Have you tried running the motors at 100% instead?
We have found that the motors draw power through the USB and all works fine when connected to the computer.
However, when disconnected from the USB/Computer the batteries simply don’t have enough power to drive the motors sufficiently.
Have you tried changing for new batteries?

no, but when coders get carried away, it’s one to watch.
The number of times I’ve checked everything and there’s still Error Crumble Not found and then looked at the length of their code. Trimming it always works.
There must be a finite length.
